FLOW

BOOK DESIGN &  PRINT MAKING  & WOODBLOCK STAMPS &  CARDS

OverviewFlow is a visual depiction of my journey toward embracing my chinese-american identity. Being an immigrant, I was divided between two cultures. As a person of traditional Chinese origin, my family’s firm values have shaped me into a person with intense empathy and compassion for others. Meanwhile, living in America taught me many important lessons such as the power of persistence, ambition, and determination. This project originated from me trying to find a balance between both worlds. I created these stamps are used for the experimentation of printmaking patterns and cards. I created the book as a diary of my heritage. I created a motif of division between the two cultures I am absorbed in. The book includes a recollection of my past memories and my process of creating these patterns. This project was a deep dive into my identity, values, and aspirations. It gave me clarity for the person I am right now, as well as a roadmap of the person I am trying to become.
